Shells in the Bush...creating an artistic life in the Australian bush.

Picture
Welcome to my site.

Hi, I'm Michelle Reynolds, an acrylic and mixed media artist and sunset photographer who lives on several acres of natural bush in the Perth hills, Western Australia, with my hubby, two sons, kangaroos, bandicoots, kookaburras and cockatoos. In January 2009 I started drawing classes and then fell in love with acrylic paints. In April 2010 I discovered mixed-media portrait collages and In March 2011 I attended an intuitive acrylic painting workshop with American Artist Flora Bowley and have now developed my own layered style of painting that allows windows of colour to shine through.  In 2012-13 I have been studying mixed media techniques with local artist Neil Elliott. In 2015 I decided to concentrate on creating mixed media faces but in March I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma - cancer of the plasma cells and have been undergoing treatment to go into remission.

Art and painting are now my passion and bring me great joy and happiness through it's challenges and triumphs.

For me it's about the journey and not the destination - the process in which my art is created; the experimenting, the joys, the challenges, the learning and the teaching, being inspired and being an inspiration as well as the consulting with others is more important than the end product I have created. If the end product was more important I would want to achieve perfection and therefore nothing would be created.

My artwork is created using Atelier and Matisse acrylics paints as well as Golden Fluid Acrylics from the USA..  I use a variety of tools to create my layered paintings such as foam brushes, my fingers and I have a range of stamping tools such as bubble wrap and sponges. In my mixed media paintings I love to use sewing patterns, tissue paper, scrapbooking papers, material, texture paste, and Caran d'Ache Neocolor Crayons.
